PEVIANI: innovation, quality, and service

PEVIANI boasts a long history of excellence, thanks to its involvement and experience gained over almost a century in the fruit and vegetables sector. Over the years, the company has developed to cover all stages of the supply chain: from production, to marketing, to widespread distribution throughout Europe.

PEVIANI sells only the very best products, grown in the most suitable areas in Italy and the world: this result is obtained by using the best manufacturing standards on its own farms and those of selected partners.

All phases of PEVIANI’s supply chain are carried out with careful consideration for environmental, social, and economic sustainability, all of which are indispensible values for the collective well-being of the community.

A family history spanning 100 years

The history of PEVIANI is that of a family of entrepreneurs sharing a project that has spanned four generations. It’s a love story written for nature and his products, fruits and vegetables, whose charm is difficult to escape.

From 1920 to today, many a man has passed the torch and affirmed the same values of the business but it was Gino Peviani who started it all. The son of farmers from Lodi sets up the very first commerical company.

At the end of the 1940s, Gino Peviani’s three young sons, Francesco, Serafino and Bassano, give the commercial activity a boost by setting up in Milan fruit and vegetable market.

In the early 1960s, the company is established as an S.p.A. (joint-stock company) and develops exports to Western Europe through the railway port of call for goods at Porta Vittoria in the city of Milan. In the same period, farms and attached refrigerated warehouses are established in Veneto, Marche, Apulia, and Sicily.

In the 1970s, the principles of integrated productions start to be used in cultivation, reducing the use of fertilizers and pesticides by 70% compared to the maximum limit allowed by Italian legislation.

In 1980, cousins Luigi (Gino) and Giuseppe (Pino) enter the company and put various processes of internationalization into effect, increasing the importation of fruit from all over the world.

In 1990, Unitrade Holland Bv is established.

In 1996, internationalization is solidified with entry into the share capital of Fyffes, a world leader in the production and marketing of bananas and pineapples.

In 2000, a modern and efficient logistics platform is built in Siziano (PV), from where products coming from company farms and the rest of the world are distributed.

In 2001, improvements of the supply chain continue, with constant investments in production and the construction of a new product refrigeration warehouse in Apulia, in the city of Ginosa, which is IFS, BRC, GLOBALG.A.P. and GLOBALG.A.P. GRASP accredited.

In 2006, PEVIANI S.p.A. becomes part of the Total Produce group, the largest company in the world for the production and distribution of fruit and vegetable products.

In 2012, Andrea joins the company and with the same passion and determination, is preparing to continue the tradition.

PEVIANI has made significant investments to continue to grow throughout the integrated supply chain by innovating its products and production processes, reducing waste and enhancing its resources.
